The customer operates a metal recycling yard processing mixed scrap, including light scrap, heavy melt, profiles and bundled material. The site includes inbound receiving zones, stockpile areas, shears or crushers, and outbound truck loading points.
Scrap arrives in varying sizes and conditions and must be sorted, stockpiled and fed into processing equipment. The yard required a versatile machine that could move bulk material quickly while working in tight and uneven areas.
Metal scrap is dense, irregular and often abrasive, so the handling equipment must offer enough lifting capacity and structural strength. Attachments and booms are exposed to impact and wear.
Yard ground conditions can be rough, with compacted scrap, ruts and debris. Machines must maintain traction and stability while travelling with loads over uneven surfaces.
Stockpiles must be built high enough to optimize yard space, and loads need to be placed accurately when feeding shears, shredders or loading trucks. Limited access around equipment and stockpiles requires good manoeuvrability and visibility.

The yard selected the HT4014 telehandler, a high-lift machine with a maximum lift capacity of about 4000 kg and a boom capable of reaching around 13.6–14.0 m. This allows it to build taller piles and load trucks from one side where space is limited.
The HT4014 is equipped with four-wheel drive and rough-terrain tyres, making it suitable for outdoor recycling yard conditions. Different attachments, such as forks, buckets or grabs, can be fitted to match bulk handling tasks.
In daily operation, the HT4014 moves bulk scrap from receiving areas to stockpiles, using a bucket or grab attachment. The operator builds and shapes piles to maximize yard capacity while keeping access routes clear.
The telehandler feeds processing equipment by loading scrap into shears, shredders or hoppers. Its reach allows it to tip material into elevated infeed points or over barriers that would be difficult for a standard loader.

Operators are trained on HT4014 load charts and safe handling of irregular scrap loads. They ensure loads are kept within the rated 4000 kg capacity and adjust boom reach to maintain stability.
Daily inspections cover tyres, boom structure, hydraulic hoses and attachments, with special attention to wear from abrasive scrap. Guarding and protective covers help reduce damage from impact and debris.
The yard maintains marked travel routes and exclusion zones around processing equipment and stockpiles. Spotters may assist when working close to machines or loading trucks to maintain safe distances and clear communication.
